Review content:
My wife and I moved to LA from NYC about three years ago. We were looking for a nice Indian restaurant in our area and stumbled upon Shershah in Marina del Rey. Let me just say that it's been a regular place we visit ever since that first encounter.
To be sure, we ate at Gaylord's (Tanzure now) on La Cienega. We tried Taste of India on Santa Monica Blvd near Beverly Hills. We tried another Indian place in Santa Monica. We even had the good fortune of eating at one of the more notable Indian restaurants in London when we visited one of my best friends and his wife, who are both Indian, over in the UK. Somehow, our tastebuds always bring us back to Shershah, a place where we're always welcomed with a warm smile and cold pint of Taj Mahal beer. We've been there so many times they already know what we're going to order before we open a menu!
My favorite dish is the chicken vindaloo and I like it spicey. Trust me, I know spicey. I order my hot wings with "Three-Mile Island" sauce. Be sure to specifiy SPICEY because they will err on the side of sparing your tongue the adrenaline boost. Nevertheless, they can make your order more timid for traditional American palates or more authentically spicey for fire-breathers like me. The chicken was juicey and not overcooked. My wife enjoys the chicken tikka and we always order the plain naan bread to dip in the sauces of our main dish. Sometimes, we'll order samosas with the mango chutney sauce if we're really hungry. On one occassion, they recommended we try their tandoori chicken wings, which were equally delicious. It's hard for us to leave that place without walking funny from full stomaches.
I have nothing but praise for Shershah and when my best friend and his wife come over to LA from London, we will surely be taking them to this place.
Pros: Warm hospitality, great food (made to order), easy parking
Cons: NONE
