Yummy Indian Food 12/22/2011

I must say, I don't normally eat Indian Food, so when my husband took me to this place I was a little sketchy. We ordered a few chicken dishes with orange sauce and I was blown away. I couldn't believe this was what Indian Food could taste like. The nan bread was delicious and my daughter even liked everything we ordered. normally she is a picky eater so I didn't expect either of us to enjoy it as much as we did. I have now become a fan of Indian food and a fan of this restaurant. highly recommend it to anyone. the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it's not that cool inside. the food however, is phenomenal. more

Great Indian Food! 1/3/2009

My fiancee and I love Indian food and this is one of best places in LA. The curries amazing, we especially like the Korma and Tikka Masala. They also have a nice selection of Indian beers. If you want Indian food for a good price and good service in West LA, Shershah is highly recommended. Pros: Food, Beer selection Cons: none more

just tried...just loved 5/3/2008

i've passed by this place a million times as i've worked and lived in the area for many many years. i recently moved across the street from villa marina and decided to have a date nite here with my gf. the food was AMAZING! she and i both ordered the curry (her-shrimp, me-chicken). we ordered a side of the garlic naan which was almost as good as the meal itself. we asked for the curries "hot". if you're not a professional spice consumer, like ourselves, stick with the mild. the "hot" was just right. i could've stood for a bit hotter, but, overall just great. i highly recommend the place. we will be crossing the street and coming back here. i'm looking forward to having their brunch. Pros: decent prices, great food Cons: no lunch buffet at dinner... ?!!??! jk more

Best Indian in LA...and we've tried a few places. 1/25/2008

My wife and I moved to LA from NYC about three years ago. We were looking for a nice Indian restaurant in our area and stumbled upon Shershah in Marina del Rey. Let me just say that it's been a regular place we visit ever since that first encounter. To be sure, we ate at Gaylord's (Tanzure now) on La Cienega. We tried Taste of India on Santa Monica Blvd near Beverly Hills. We tried another Indian place in Santa Monica. We even had the good fortune of eating at one of the more notable Indian restaurants in London when we visited one of my best friends and his wife, who are both Indian, over in the UK. Somehow, our tastebuds always bring us back to Shershah, a place where we're always welcomed with a warm smile and cold pint of Taj Mahal beer. We've been there so many times they already know what we're going to order before we open a menu! My favorite dish is the chicken vindaloo and I like it spicey. Trust me, I know spicey. I order my hot wings with "Three-Mile Island" sauce. Be sure to specifiy SPICEY because they will err on the side of sparing your tongue the adrenaline boost. Nevertheless, they can make your order more timid for traditional American palates or more authentically spicey for fire-breathers like me. The chicken was juicey and not overcooked. My wife enjoys the chicken tikka and we always order the plain naan bread to dip in the sauces of our main dish. Sometimes, we'll order samosas with the mango chutney sauce if we're really hungry. On one occassion, they recommended we try their tandoori chicken wings, which were equally delicious. It's hard for us to leave that place without walking funny from full stomaches. I have nothing but praise for Shershah and when my best friend and his wife come over to LA from London, we will surely be taking them to this place. Pros: Warm hospitality, great food (made to order), easy parking Cons: NONE more

Fabulous Punjabi Food in the west coast 10/30/2007

I am from the east coast and travel to California several times each year for my business. I always love dining and trying new restaurants anywhere I can. A friend recommended this place to try out if I was ever in marina del ray area. Thank god I did, it was amazing. The food was so tasteful and palatable. I have been to numerous indian restaurants in nyc, majority of them are excellent...but this was just a whole other level. Never had anything like it before. My favorite dish was chicken tikka masala and the garlic naan. Also the paneer was very good, a little heavy. The staff is extremely nice and professional. Parking wasn't a problem. I really did enjoy this place and would definitely come back here again and recommended to everyone. Pros: Food, Staff, Parking, Location, everything Cons: wish they had one in new york city more

The BEST Indian Buffet in LA! 10/16/2007

I dont know what the last woman was talking about. She must not know Indian food - Ive eat here once a week and nothing has ever been bland. Ive been to over 20 Indian buffets in LA and none compare to this one! They have the biggest selection, great taste, & excellent service! If you dont do the buffet, order the mango chicken, its to die for! more

Bland food 9/24/2007

My fiance and I decided to give this place a try after reading the reviews here and visiting their website, but boy were we disappointed. First of all the place was so dark inside we weren't even sure it was open when looking at it from the parking lot. Once inside, we found it to be clean. Service was well-paced and attentive. The food, however, was very dissappointing. The naan was very good, very fresh, but everything else was very bland. The paneer tikka marsala has this unnaturally bright orangie color and tasted so buttery I couldn't taste any other flavor. Aloo Gobi and Baigan Bhartha tasted off somehow, but I can't put my finger on what was wrong. They put ice in my mango lassi which made it kind of watery at the end. It had good flavor though, very smooth, but the ice ruined it. The one thing that did taste decent is the Saag Paneer. If you're use to Chinese food or Indian food that are more potent and spicy, I wouldn't recommend this place. Pros: Ample parking, good service, and good naan Cons: Food is bland, ambiance kind of dark and dingy more

LOVE THIS PLACE! 7/8/2007

My boyfriend and I are regulars , and we have never been disappointed. Their food is always excellent and the staff is so friendly. My personal favorites here are the Matar Paneer, and Chicken Tikka. Their naan is also excellent, I wouldn't be surprised if they make it fresh. I highly recommend this place, and I really can't say enough great things about it! Pros: Excellent Food! Friendly Staff, easy parking Cons: none! more

Awesome Neighborhood Indian Food 2/11/2006

Okay, if you are ever in the Marina del Rey area and love Indian food, this place is a must-try. Since I used to live in the neighborhood, I frequented the place regularly. If you go, do try the shrimp masala with the plain naan bread. It is absolutely to die for...unless you're allergic to shrimp or something. As I'm writing this, I tell you, I really miss Shershah. Service is always great! Seating is prompt. Food is NEVER bad or even mediocre - ALWAYS excellent! Bon apetit! more

yummy indian food... 8/8/2004

i can't believe it myself, but i actually went to Shershah twice this past wknd, w/ Friday being my first time ever trying it. it was very impressive, to both my bf & i, that i took my family for dinner on Sunday night again. we tried a variety of food, which were all great, and i think my family was fond of their mango lassi. very rich, creamy, and delicious. too bad we didn't save enough room for dessert. i guess this is what we're going to aim at next time. one more thing, we did try their poori bread this time, but i don't think i'll order it again. it's way too oily since the whole bread is deep fried. Pros: food, service, value more

The best 11/22/2002

The food is soooooo good especially the chicken tikka masala was fabolous, I am so hooked on indian cuisine. The service is also very nice... they all make sure you are happy .... especially the owner's son.... he's very hot! but yes, you have to try this restaurant! Pros: great service, good food, clean place more

8.5 10/24/2002

The place was nice and the food was very good. I enjoyed going to this resturant being new in the community I'm looking for good places to go eat and this was a very good place. Pros: good food Cons: more staff more

Good for a First Timer 9/23/2002

My boyfriend and I ate here on a Sunday for the brunch. The Chicken Tikka was good, the Vegetable Korma was even better, and the pureed Spinach with Cheese was the best. As my boyfriend is a dedicated meat-eater, he enjoyed the grilled chicken. For his first try at Indian food (at least something other than Chicken Tandoori), it was an enjoyable experience. For me, on the other hand, I hope the regular menu selections are more impressive. Pros: Peaceful atmosphere, Friendly staff Cons: Restroom small more
