Tonight I attended a dinner hosted by Energy Improvements by Ed Graves. I felt uneasy the minute I walked into the room at Outback. The invitation had said it was going to be about energy savings for your home and I thought it might have been about solar. Since I am interested in and have been looking at solar, I signed up. Once the video started rolling and Ed started the presentation I looked up the company. To my shock, here were thousands of complaints. Ed Graves stated that he had 30K installs in 32 years so I was truly shocked to see so many complaints and issues for a company that had been in business that many years. I also noticed that everyone in the room was on the elderly / mature side. One of the complaints I had read on Yelp and BBB was that he preyed on the elderly and retired people who were on fixed incomes. If this is true as it appeared to be, that is despicable to prey on the elderly! At the end of the presentation he did not ask if anyone had any questions. I raised my hand asking if I could ask a few questions. He did not respond so I proceeded to ask a question. My first question was that since he is in Tyler and I am in the Dallas area how does he handle a service call. I had read in one of the complaints that he had told the customer that he just missed the service truck route and it would be another 8 weeks before they would be in that city and state - that is 2 months!!! These are certainly all valid concerns when doing business with someone in another city or state and one that as a consumer I should certainly be able to get an answer to - instead he blew up at me, asking why would I try to embarrass him and stormed over to my table picking up the paper he had put there for me to sign up for him to come out to my house.
