TERRIBLE SERVICE! I highly recommend avoiding this business! They take advantage of anyone they don't think is knowledgeable about cars.
My 2004 Jetta broke down on I-84 near Dunmore, PA. The only symptom was a loss of power before I turned the car off and it wouldn’t restart. My insurance towed the vehicle to Amico & Sons garage. I tried to contact the garage multiple times that day with no success, so I eventually left a message. I had not heard from them the next day, so I called to inquire about my car’s status. They stated the issue was a broken fuel pump that needed replaced. I instructed them to replace the fuel pump with a new one. It took 2 more days to replace the pump and contact me. When I arrived, the first thing the mechanic said was the fuel gauge (in the dash) wasn’t working. He said he checked the fuel level by putting a gallon of fuel in the tank. This is impossible as I had just filled the tank up immediately prior to (<12mi) it breaking down. I assumed the defunct gauge was from the broken pump since the gauge was working when the car broke down. Driving home I noticed the gauge wasn't working. I thought this unusual because it worked before. I knew it could be due to improper orientation of the pump. Upon arriving home, I inspected the fuel pump and found it was not oriented properly and a rubber gasket taped to the top. I rotated the pump to the correct position, but the gauge still didn’t work. When I called again, they said there is no connection from the fuel pump to the gauge so the issue must be the gauge itself, not the pump. I have changed the pump myself before, so I know there is an electrical connection between the pump and gauge. I subsequently took my car to a local German auto specialist whom I trust. Upon inspection, it was revealed that an incorrect pump was installed and the electrical connection (the rubber gasket belongs to) was broken during the installation. I called Amico & Sons to request they replace the incorrect fuel pump with a correct one at no cost. They refused
