Watch out - they will try to screw you if they think they can get away with it.\r

I had them come out to check out my A/C unit which wasn t working properly. The tech quickly identified the problem as a bad condenser fan motor. Now comes the screw job: He told me it would cost $775 plus the trip charge to replace it. He then went into sales-pitch mode about how this was an older unit and did I really want to put almost $1,000 into it? For only $4,000 they could replace the entire outside unit and coil with a new high-efficiency unit that would last much longer.\r

Well, my spidey-sense went off immediately. Did some checking around with other contractors - that s a $100 fan and it's about 20 minutes worth of labor to install it. Called one of them, came out the same day, replaced it and checked refrigerant levels for $225.\r

I m just mad that I paid KB $118 in trip charges and diagnostic fees . Should have gone with the little shop my next-door neighbor recommended in the first place.
