Review content:
My aunt gave me her old '96 Lexus SC300 after my 280z finally rusted through. The Lexus had been sitting in the hot California sun for about 10 years and caused the paint to peel off as a result.
I took it to Maaco and was quoted 2,000 dollars to repaint the entire thing, or 1,300 dollars to use the spot paint method for the stock maroon. That price included a giant dent near the left wheel as well. Actually, I think the paint job was about 600 dollars and the dent repair was about the same price.
I took the cheaper option, dropped it off and about a week later came back to a car that made my jaw drop. The work was absolutely splendid. It really did look brand new, and the dent was gone completely. For about 1,300 dollars, you really can't get a better deal anywhere.
Of course, the whole thing wasn't perfect. There are some minute places on the car where the paint has spilled over, and a piece of body molding came loose after the work. Plus there was a small scratch on the door and some more paint got on the exhaust pipes. These however, are quite small imperfections. If I wasn't looking too hard, I wouldn't even notice them, aside from the loose part which I just glued back in place.
The job isn't 100% perfect, but for getting a job that is 97% as good for a fraction of the price, I'll take it over the more expensive option any day.
Pros: Friendly, fast, did a great overall job.
Cons: There were some ""minor imperfections.""
