Don Glo just gave me a tow.... so I see all the -ve reviews and thought I have to share my experience. First off, my vehicle cut out while on the FDR and AAA sent Don Glo to give me a tow. Had to wait a while, apparently due to them being busy, but they came in the end and the mechanic (Roger) was very polite and helpful. He didn't have any tools with him, or extra gas (aren't AAA supposed to always bring these things?) but nonetheless he looked at the vehicle and said it seemed like it just ran out of gas (although the gauge was not showing empty). Next day I get a call from Don Glo telling me the fuel pump needs replacing and it will cost $1000 !!! After some discussion they conceded that in fact the whole system is working fine expect the gauge is off. If I am happy to live with a faulty gauge then the vehicle is fine ! The discussion I had with Roger really helped in me not getting sucked into a $1000 bill. When I pick up the vehicle, yes the staff are a bit crude, but this is the bronx, that is how people are around there... nothing particularly bad about the garage staff. Had to pay $60 check-out fee ... I think that was fair enough - garages always pull stunts like this and to be fair they probably spent a few minutes looking at the engine once it was towed to the garage.\r \r So in summary, if you get towed by Don Glo, expect an OK towing service but dont' expect on the spot fix. Expect a quote for expensive work, but question it thoroughly. Expect gruff workers who mean no harm. Expect a $60 check out fee.
