Review content:
This is the third time I've had to have Roto-Rooter out to my 115 year old house. Needless to say, when they've been called, it's because 115 year old pipes have serious problems.
Mike (his code is 229) helped dig out and replace the collapsed sewer main under my basement in 2007. I had the main replaced/lined in the front yard and then under the house to connect to the new portion this February. Unfortunately, we had missed one old pipe from a new bathroom renovation in the basement to the main that was replaced in 2007. Roto-Rooter made an effort to send someone who had been on one of the previous jobs, so Mike was out here again this time.
Mike spent four hours on Thursday trying to figure out the problem to see if they could avoid digging. Unfortunately, they had to dig that out the old pipe in the basement and replace it with a new one. Mike and John (2723) were here with another technician all day on Friday. Not cheap--they have never been cheap, but they got the job done the next day. Their ability to quickly turn around jobs offsets some of the pain of the bill.
There is only one section of old pipe left under my house, and they took a look at that with their camera to make sure that it was ok--so far so good. Let's hope it lasts another decade or so. I'm glad that my bathrooms are now fully functional, and that I shouldn't have to worry about that plumbing again in my lifetime.
