Review content:
One night, my step-son was having trouble breathing all of a sudden. Naturally, we took him to the ER. Upon arrival the 'security' at the desk was talking on the phone and by the sound of it, having a casual conversation that was no work-related. We were not greeted by him, so we proceeded with the metal detector to-dos. Once going through the detector 'security' remained on the line as we stood by the desk waiting for directions on where to go/what to do etc. Finally, he pointed us to the registration area. The staff did not present with a sense of urgency AT ALL. They were sitting in the background chatting. After we were registered, we sat in a open, dull, and cold room (which was not very comforting of a 7yo). We waited as the staff watched us out of the corner of their eyes, yet said nothing about a doctor coming to see us soon or what the next step was. We waited....and waited...and waited some more. All while my step-some was having pretty serious complications breathing. After about 45mins we were taken to a room where a doctor visited us. He looked him over for approx. 3 mins and couldn't find 'anything' wrong. He insisted - more like pressured - into getting all types of x-rays even after he insisted NOTHING seemed out of place or wrong. So we again WAITED for about 1hr for x-rays and the reading of. Surprise-nothing was wrong. When the doctor came back to chat about it all; he was demeaning and asking why we didn't take him to Children's Hospital. We didn't take him there BECAUSE IT WAS AN EMERGENCY and Riverside was the closest. So we left, again with the harsh stares from the staff and lack of customer service. One month later we get a bill for $1700.
Suggestion - If it is any type of emergency - especially during PM hours - don't go to Riverside. They're lack of urgency and customer service was enough to sway my opinion - not to mention the $1700 bill received after being pressured into all kinds of x-rays.
