I was a volunteer thinking I was going to help out a worthy charity. But what I saw was very disturbing. The first issue was Kristy at the front counter. I was immediately berated for not having any paperwork. When I asked about what papers I needed she said I should know all ready? I was trying to be friendly and asked a few questions about the staff and organization and I was rudely told to not ask any such questions! Suddenly out of nowhere, there was so much scorn and resentfulness in her voice. It was really the worst first encounter with another person that I have ever had. I went ahead and did some work for Jenna who seemed to be normal and in control of her emotions. Later, I was again confronted about leaving trash all over the floor and picking up the containers which I HAD BEEN TAKING CARE OF THE WHOLE TIME! The other activities I saw there was another girl working in the kitchen who was very polite and asking clarification questions about how to store some food items. And this other lady Ruth was telling her to shut up and not letting her finish her questions and telling her that she was stupid. I was very shocked at this treatment. I felt like I was at a prison or something. Another girl who worked in the kitchen with the food was later sitting in the parking area combing fleas out of a near dead kitten! Later, she was back in the kitchen! I really was sort of freaked out by everything that happened there. I don't think I can justify going back there ever again.
