Seven years my first dog with my husband died of cancer. I would visit the pet shop now and then to look at the puppies but couldn't bring myself to get another one. Over the next 2 years the owner would talk to me about the puppies and learned what kind of dog I had that had died and how heartbroken I was to even try again. She asked what breed of dog, the personality I liked in a dog and learned what kind of owner I was then she walk away and let me spend time with the puppies alone. She called one day and said she had a puppy for me to see. I told her no and for the next three times and that I wasn't ready. It had been 3 years by now since my dog died. One Saturday I had to run errands and brought my husband with me. We stopped to visit with the owner since we had become friends and the puppy was still there. The puppy looked me in the eye and she was everything and more than we had wanted in a dog and ended up taking her home. The first year was rough going through my new
