I took my 2005 Avalanche to Dyer in Vero with a request to get estimate on speedometer problem. When I got home I found out my VIN was part of a recall from GM for faulty speedometer but settlement was up until 80000 miles. I have been having intermittent problems with it for years and now I had 90000 miles. I called GM customer service (since I am a loyal Chevy customer) they told me they would try to help and would call Dyer. Dyer called me and told me I needed a new cluster and it would cost $390.00 parts and $105 labor. I then went to Avalanche forum and found that the recall found defective steeper motor on cluster board and it cost $6 for part and showed how to replace(simple). I called Dyer and told them I was going to fix myself since they would not come off the $490 charge. When I got there they would not give me back my truck unless I paid the $105.00 service charge. I told them that $105 was alot to take out 4 simple screws and unplug the plug and play connection(which I am sure they didn't even do). They told me that it would cover the labor later if I needed to reinstall the cluster. I told them I could screw in 4 screws with little problem and left paying the $105 even though they did nothing.\r

They compared their simply replace the cluster to going to the Doctor and receiving his professional opinion.\r

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR OR TRUCK TO DYER!!!!!!
