I moved in with my boyfriend in 2013. We were told we could park anywhere, even after we offered to pay extra to have a reserved spot. So we did so. Then, they closed down more than half of the parking lot because of ""parking structure issues"", yet they have done nothing about it for weeks. There are 15 floors, and 8 units per floor, so you can imagine how little parking is available. One day, we parked in a spot that was apparently reserved (even though we weren't given this benefit), and the maintenance man gave the tenant our apartment number and allowed him to pound angrily on our door and threaten to tow us. We explained the mistake, but this should have never happened, and the staff is to blame.\r \r We were also not provided with a key to our unit, and were forced to track down the previous tenant (whom we did not know) in order to be granted entrance to our home, or we had the option to pay an additional fee for keys. \r \r Not only this, but the elevators have broken down repeatedly, and we live on a high floor, so going up and down the stairs is no small feat. Currently, only one elevator is operating, so it now takes 10 min to leave the building. This is incredibly inconvenient for our disabled tenants, as well, and I have seen elderly women struggling up the stairs with their canes and bags multiple times.\r \r Our dishwasher has broken down repeatedly, and every time it takes maintenance days to get to it. \r \r The entire building is under renovations. When they began renovations on our floor, they changed the locks to our apartment with no notice, and closed the office before we could get home. Luckily, our neighbor was able to give us a heads up, and we were not locked out of our unit for the night.\r \r The lobby is currently under renovations, so the mail room has been moved downstairs. The boxes were never bolted to the walls, and nearly killed the mail lady while she attempted to do her job two months ago. They remain unbolted.\r \r The ground floor containing the laundromat and the gym was stripped and closed for renovations for 3 months before any work was done on them. So we paid for a laundromat and gym we had no access to for months. The new laundry room has raised the prices, and no longer has a coin machine. Now, that the floor is finally ""renovated"" (still looks terrible), we have no gym, even though this is in our lease agreement, and we are still paying for it. \r \r We have been treated like absolute garbage by the staff because we are alternative looking and have no children, even though we pay our rent on time, have had no complaints from our neighbors (other than the parking debacle). The maintenance man is a creep, always asking personal and inappropriate questions. This has been brought to the manager's attention, she has done nothing. The manager is a gossip, and likes to pump her tenants for information on each other, but not for info a landlord needs. More about folks personal lives and lifestyles.\r \r And, on top of all of this, they are raising the rent, even on non-renovated units from $860 for a two bedroom to $1000. They are not worth that, even renovated. These are cheap apartments from the 1970's, not terrible, but definitely not fantastic. I have also heard rumors of bed bugs from my neighbors, but I cannot confirm that.\r \r Needless to say, we are moving.
