In the office we're using a Buffalo NAS with two 1 terabyte HD's. I thought they were set to RAID 1 when in fact they were RAID 0 (my fault). One of the drives went bad and without a proper backup I had to figure out a way to get our data back. While the overall size of the files were small (110 gb) the cost of reproducing the data would be very large with some of it being unreproducible. Contacted a few local businesses and Accuserve was the only local business that gave me enough information making me comfortable enough to have them try performing the data recovery. The fee structure was laid out and explained where there would be no surprises after starting the recovery (flat fee for discovery, estimated cost for recovery).\r What made it even easier to work with them was the fact they use other businesses as drop off points. There was one within a few miles of the office and I was able to drop if off with no inconvenience. \r I dropped the drives off on a Thursday late afternoon. The next afternoon James called me back with the analysis, options, and exact fees. After authorizing the work he gave me the recovery time frame - sure enough I was able to pick up my drives (including a new external drive with the recovered data) the following Tuesday morning. As of writing this we lost very limited data so I'm very pleased. While the initial cost may sound high to some, I can say it was cheap in comparison to what it would have taken to manually reproduce all our data - both in time & cost.\r
