I'll never be able to do Dr. Hermann justice. She has a tone and gentleness with me that says, ?You're doing all you can for them. You're a good Mom, and we're in this together.? That means so much, but it doesn't compare to the tone that she uses with my anxious animals. She speaks to them with nothing less than Grace. ?You're worthy and beautiful creatures deserving of our love and protection, and I'm going to take care of you.? They believe her, and they do not hesitate to trust her.\r

Earlier this week, I brought home a puppy that I had adopted from a no-kill organization. I had only had him for 36 hours when I took him to Dr. Hermann. As the list of illnesses and neglects grew, we were both visibly shaken at the state that he was in. I have no doubt that Tucker felt my anxiety and growing fury. And yet, even as the words, ?This makes me so angry,? left her mouth, her touch was clearly soothing to Tucker, who was so miserable and terrified. She sent me home
