Review content:
I brought two wood chairs to the Furniture Hospital. The base of each chair needed re-gluing. A price was quoted, and it seemed high, but I wanted to support small business, so I decided to have them do the work. About a week later, I had a message on my answering machine saying that the chairs were ready and that one of the chairs needed more work than originally thought - they had to re-glue the entire chair. They wanted to charge an additional $30! When I called the shop, I was told that they decided to re-glue it because it needed it - that it wasn't safe to sit in. I said I would have appreciated if they would have at least called and ASKED if I wanted the additional work done. The chair is an accent chair and not used for seating. The woman agreed to ""give me a break"" and reduced the additional work by $15. Even with the ""break"" the total cost was too much for two chairs. It also is poor business practice to perform additional work without consulting the customer, and then expect them to pay for it.
