When I moved to Austin, I visited a number of martial arts schools. None of them met my expectations because either the curriculum was insufficient or the instructors were off-putting. However, I was impressed by Blankenship Martial Arts because the instructors and students were friendly and welcoming, showing a deep knowledge of the martial arts styles and philosophies that interested me.\r

It should be noted that Kim Geary, the person who called BMA ""creepy and cult like"" in the previous post, is an instructor at a competing martial arts school called Austin Chayon-Ryu. I met her when I was exploring martial arts dojos. I find it unprofessional that she would try to drive traffic to her Dojang by inaccurately representing her competition. I don't believe her actions reflect an inclusive or laudable martial arts philosophy. I will not be going to her school.
