My trusted Saab mechanic told me I needed new brake pads, that he could replace all four for around $300. He said I could try a national chain, like Meineke and that it'd be cheaper overall, but that they might try to sell me parts I don't need. Sure enough, I asked for brakes only, and the Meineke guy said I also needed rotors and that they could do it all for $550. Thank god I told them to call me first. They're sheisty! You may think you'll get a deal going to a national place but stay with a shop you trust, even if it is a little more in the end. My experience was in Boulder, Co.
Pros: The guy was friendly.
Cons: He lied, tried to repair something not broken, sheisty.
