The other day, a man with no uniform and no credentials came to our door and, despite there being not one but TWO "No Soliciting" signs on our doors, he rang the bell. He told us that he was in the area working on another project and would we like a free quote on windows or siding. We had recently gotten a quote from a local contractor and said no. He persisted, and finally, we figured, what's the harm in getting a free quote that's valid for 18 months if it makes this guy go away... so we did. The next day, another guy came out and gave us an extremely high pressure, scripted sales pitch after he measured everything and did the quote. The entire thing lasted over 6 hours, and after we told him repeatedly that we were not going to spend 16k at this time, he started knocking off $500 here, $1000 there, $200, etc. However, these discounts and incentives were ONLY available if you blindly said Yes "right now". "Once I walk out the door, if I have to come back tomorrow or next month
