I've been telling people for over a year not to go to 29th Avenue Animal Hospital located in Stapleton. Dr. Smith, the owner (a Stapleton Resident), is very careless when it comes to how her practice is run. My dog was diagnosed with cancer...3 months later she told me he no longer had cancer and decided to take cut back his meds. She did say that she needed Alameda East to confirm. Seven days went by with no response. I called each day. So, I sent a very curt email requesting his records be sent to our new vet. I heard back from her at this point. \r

However, I'd already made the decision to change vets (Tender Touch Animal Hospital in Denver is wonderful!). My new vet, Dr. Graff, sent us to the oncology dept. VRCC, another great hospital. The oncologist confirmed he had advanced stages of cancer. He was taking prednisone to shrink the tumors. The oncologist was shocked at the dosage he was taking. She said their livers cannot handle doses that high.\r

Yes, he did have cancer that is fact. No vet could change that. However, the way the situation was handled was very poor. As a vet you are dealing with humans emotions as well. For many of us these furry creatures are like our children and we need to feel that the vet cares. \r

Dr. Michele Smith does not seem to really care about the animals in her care. It seems to be about making money. I have no confidence in her ability as a vet. She is the only vet in Stapleton and this needs to change.
Cons: Poor care, too expensive, poor response time, carelessness
