Review content:
I took my son in to have his hearing checked since he had failed his hearing screening at school. He saw the audiologist first then he saw Dr. Tamez. Dr. Tamez completed his exam and discussed his hearing test results with us and he began to ask my son questions about his breathing, sleep, and if he had issues with headaches. I was surprised that he was asking because my son suffered from daily headaches and was fatigued most of the time. I had raised concern to his pediatric ENT but was told he would “grow out of it.” After asking how this was related Dr. Tamez educated us both and offered my son a treatment plan. We followed through and returned after about one month; and while my son noticed some improvement he was still suffering from headaches. Dr. Tamez informed me that my son suffered from chronic sinusitis. We discussed options and we decided that he would benefit from sinus surgery and a set of tubes. My son is now years 5 out from his surgery and has only had a few mild headaches. He has become more active and has surpassed his growth expectation. I am so grateful for my son failing his hearing screen at school, otherwise I think we may still be waiting for him to “grow out of’ his daily headaches and fatigue.
