My dog presented with intractable diarrhea and muscle loss. Noll diagnosed EPI without any tests. There is a specific blood test that takes ~3 days, but he didn't tell me about this option. He gave us digestive enzymes and said if the diarrhea went away, that confirmed the dx. Bull. EPI is hard to stabilize and it was the wrong dose anyway! My dog got worse of course because he didn't even have EPI. We went back and he PUSHED euthanasia. WTF? He hadn't done one single test! He gave us steroids (dose way too low for my dog) and said if they didn't work, there is nothing that could be done. He mentioned tests a specialist could do but told us prices four to five times higher than they actually are to make us think we could not afford to help our dog. I also questioned giving steroids without checking for lymphoma first because doing that will make the lymphoma impossible to get into remission.
