For any town to put forth any claim to having an upbeat and vibrant nightlife, it is almost a perquisite these days that the town has a microbrewery. The Foothills Brewing is Winston's first and so far only microbrewery that is able to deliver a wide range of beer flavors and with a change in state liquor laws a wide range of potency as well.
But for any establishment to survive downtown, offering a selection of brews on tap will not sufficient. An attached restaurant is usually a must as well. Thankfully, the Foothills Brewing provides a much better selection that the standard burgers and finger foods found at many of these types of establishments.
It was a quiet Sunday evening when we arrived for dinner. The menu is similar to most casual dining restaurants downtown with a menu heavy on burgers and steaks but the execution is much better. The onion rings are considered to be the best in the city but we forgo that in favor for the cheese dip as we needed some vegetables for the eve
