I used to work for VCA Newark Animal Hospital and I ran far away from it about eight months ago. I can attest to the fact that the company cares about the all-mighty dollar. As an employee, the benefits are horrible, the pay is horrible, and most staff they hire are horrible. For the largest veterinary company in the country, they put absolutely nothing into their staff. There is no training. All they care about is hiring the cheapest applicant possible. For a practice that claims itself to be an emergency and a specialty practice, you would think that they would hold their standards higher than others in the caliber of staff they want. Some doctors are OK. Two of the emergency doctors are miserable beings. I have seen them refuse to treat patients just because the owner did not have enough money. I have seen them turn an animal away when it was having seizures just because they didn't want to see it. One of the emergency doctors will outright say that he is going to treat a
