I made an appointment at Simi Valley Smiles as a new patient in June, shortly after their grand opening, for an emergency visit. I was in agonizing pain on my bottom left side, and what was worse, this emergency hit a mere 3 days before I had to leave for to work on the East Coast for 2 months.\r

They were aware of these details, mind you.\r

My appointment began with X-rays and color photos of my entire mouth, then I was brought into an exam room. There, the dentist basically tried to up-sell me on having my bottom left completely redone, which would total around $3,000 (and yes, I HAVE dental insurance). This was obviously out of the question, as I needed to be drilled-and-filled, STAT, and had a mere 72 hours to do so before I got on an airplane.\r

From there, another woman came in the room and had me fill out paperwork for a credit check for the ridiculous amount of money the procedure they were pushing on me would cost, rather than just address the emergency at hand. I, of
