Review content:
I needed my right knee replaced. Dr Kim Bertin was recommended to me by a nurse who treated Dr. Bertin's and other orthopedic surgeons patients at LDS Hospital. She said he is an excellent surgeon and his surgical outcomes were very good. She did mention he didn't have a good ""bed side manner"".\r \r On my first office visit, I had x-rays taken and a PA reviewed them with me. The office staff was good. I did wait about 15-20 minutes before they took me in for the x-rays. X-ray tech, PA (Jason) and RN were very friendly and helpful. Jason went over x-rays and was knowledgeable. The only issue was that they used only one type of replacement knee. Jason said I should discuss this with Dr. Bertin.\r \r Two weeks later I met with Dr. Bertin. When I started to ask if I could still ski with the replacement knee and mentioned ""sports knee"". Dr. Bertin got angry with me and lectured me. It appeared that he did not have time to help a patient understand what his options were and how their knee compared to others. The feeling I got was that it's one size fits all and please don't waste my time asking impertinent questions.\r \r After stewing about my visit with Dr. Bertin for a few hours, I called his office and fired him.\r \r If you are looking for a good stable replacement knee and you don't need to ask the doctor a lot of questions, Dr. Bertin may be the doctor for you. If you're looking for personable doctor who is patient with your questions and willing to explain things, look for another surgeon. Pros: Good PA, RN & x-ray tech. Cons: Poor bedside manner by Dr. Bertin
