Businiess name:  Tejas Ear, Nose And Throat, P.A.: Oscar Tamez, MD
Review by:  citysearch c.
Review content:
Oh my ... What an experience I had at Tejas Ear Nose & Throat! The entire time that I was with ""doctor"" Tamez, I kept wondering if the guy was actually a real doctor. It was one of the most surreal experiences I've had with a doctor. After waiting for an extended time in the exam room for him to arrive, he finally arrives and starts to tell me what is wrong before doing any sort of examination. Then he begins to backtrack after I convey some inaccuracies in his statements. Then one of his assistants flings open the door to the exam room and tells him there is someone there to see him. He seems confused ... first telling his assistant that he doesn't want to see the person, but then quickly changes his mind and abruptly leaves the room in the middle of my examination .... and, in doing so, he tosses my patient records on the counter spilling papers out of the folder. And there I wait again. And, wait. And, wait. He finally comes back in the room and tries to pick up where he left off but he is obviously totally lost. I had to get him back on track. Then he launches into this rambling assessment that made little sense to me whatsoever. That said, maybe I was distracted by looking at the nasty sore on his upper lip, the bandaid on his head, and the food stuck in his braces. Don't know what was up with all that, but it was kinda like a train wreck ... ya couldn't help but look! I almost stopped him and told him to breathe and meditate for a moment so he could get himself centered. The guy was all over the place ... jumping from one idea to the next with seemingly no ability to connect the dots. He then proceeds to tell me that he is going to take a picture of my sinuses ""for education purposes"" and hints to the fact that allowing him to do so is voluntary. So, I politely refuse. When I do so, he becomes very angry and launches into a tirade that I should be developing a synergistic relationship with him and that ""one hand shakes the other"". And then he blatantly says to me that he does not need to give me good service if he doesn't want to. I sat there shocked ... but finally asked him and verified that the photo was voluntary, to which he confirmed ... and again launches into another tirade, verbally abusing me for refusing. It was one of those experiences where you are expecting Allen Funt to walk in and say that you're on Candid Camera! His staff is absolutely lovely. I truly feel sorry for them. As for Doctor Tamez, I sat there totally amazed that this guy is actually a real doctor. I've dealt with doctors with big egos before ... and actually very much enjoy doctors who are confident ... but, ""doctor"" Tamez's ego certainly does not come from confidence. He seems to have a severe attention deficit disorder as well as some other obvious medical issues going on. The guy has some deep pathology for sure! Frankly, he seems emotionally imbalanced to me. UPDATE: After I wrote this review, my girlfriend told me about her experience with Doctor Tamez. He prescribed her a medication and she asked him whether or not it would conflict with the medications she was currently taking. He said that there was no conflict and to take them at the same time. But, when she went to get the prescription filled, her pharmacist told her that there was a conflict and taking both medications at the same time could cause her heart rate to reduce significantly and even to stop. So, he called Doctor Temez to verify that he wanted her to take both medications at the same time. Doctor Temez first told the pharmacist that it was ok to take both medications, but then called back a few minutes later in a panic telling him that she should not take both medications at the same time. This guy is dangerous. See him at your own risk.
