For our recent trip to AC we boarded our dogs at Atlantic City Pet Hotel and Grooming. We have never taken our dogs there before but because the place we normally take them too is closed on Sundays we decided to board them in AC so that they were close to where we were staying. \r
We found them online when we goggled pet boarding in AC. Upon calling I talked to the owner who was very nice. He stressed that the dogs get bottled water, the facility was cleaned twice daily and the dogs would be walked 4 times a day. This sounded great to me and my girlfriend and we decided to take our dogs there. DO NOT BE FOOLED. IT IS DISGUSTING!!! When we arrived the first thing that is unappealing is that the facility is on a main road with no room to realty let the dogs out. But we figured that wasn’t too big of a deal. When we entered I was overwhelmed with the smell of urine and feces. The floor was dirty and not what we had pictured by the description we were given. (Notice when you go to their website that there are no pictures of the floor or back room where they keep the dogs just a brief video or the front area that doesn’t do it justice.) My girlfriend did not want to leave them there but we had just driven 3 hours and had no other options. So finally she said ok and we left.\r
We were supposed to stay in AC for 2 days and nights but only booked the pet hotel for one night due to the fact they said if we booked it for 2 night and left early we would still have to pay for the second night and we wanted to make sure it was place we would want to keep our dogs for 2 night. After we dropped our dogs off we knew we were leaving the next day. There was no way I was going to subject my dogs to that environment. \r
Now out of our 3 dogs. One of them is only 1 and is pretty hyper. But she has been boarded over 20 times at 2 other places and has never come back dirty or smelling. When were arrived the next day the place was still dirty and smelled of urine and feces. I know they said they clean two times a day but I don’t think the bottle of febreze next to the register qualifies as cleaning. I just wanted to get my dogs out of there. When they brought my dogs out I was so upset. The first one they brought out was covered in water and puke. The girl said she just spilled her water bowl but you would think that they would try to wipe it off her before they brought her out to me. All three of my dogs were shaking nonstop. I was very unhappy to say the least. I just wanted to leave but the owner was busy on the phone and took his good old time as if I wasn’t there. He didn’t even say thanks for your business. I’m not even sure if he put down the phone to ring me up. Either way our drive home was awful. The smell from the dogs filled the car and we road with the windows down the whole way home. I had to give them 2 baths each to get the smell off.\r
I normally do not write reviews for anything, good or bad. But I am animal lover. We both volunteer at an SPCA that has up to 50 dogs at any time and none of the dogs smell like mine smelled when we picked them up.\r
I will never go back. I would rather cancel my vacation than go back. \r
Now I'm sure they are going to write a response saying my dogs were bad or were dirty when I took them there (which they weren’t) but if you are even thinking about taking your dog or cat here I would ask to see the back room and make them refund your money if you aren’t satisfied, which I'm sure they won’t do. And have a backup plan. I have boarded my dogs over 20 times and have never had an experience close to this.(and that’s not in a good way.) BEWARE!!!\r
