Review content:
The rooms were massive & beautifully decorated with hardwood floors & massive four post beds. Our room had double doors leading onto the front veranda which spanned the entire front of the house. Sitting out on the veranda overlooking the Mississippi River in the evening, I felt like I'd stepped back in time, especially with the New Years fireworks sounding eerily reminiscent of cannon fire. We had very peaceful & relaxing stay. Unfortunately, we only had one night to enjoy the plantation, as we were just passing through on our way back home from the Christmas holiday. Ormond was one of the only plantations in the area willing to let us stay for only one night & we're glad they did because we feel like we found a hidden gem. It's not as well know as some of the other plantations in the area & therefor it was much quieter & a bargain to stay at. The owner was very helpful & accommodating. Ormond is towards the beginning of the Plantation road so it's a perfect place to start a trip to see all the Planations & it's only about 20-25 min. outside of New Orleans, so its a quick trip back into the city for the bustle of the night life. It was an overall very pleasant experience & I highly recommend it to anyone passing that way. Unfortunately, the little restaurant in the plantation was closed when we were there, so we didn't get to try the food. We'll definitely be venturing back though & hopefully for a longer stay next time.
