We had our wedding reception here and the food was fabulous. The muffalata's were great, the shrimp fettucine was fabulous, and the open bar was a hit! The DJ was also really good...

Ormond Plantation restaurant is located in the manor of one of the oldest plantations in Louisiana. Linens and china are a nice touch. The food is local favorites like seafood stuffed eggplant, plus salmon and pasta dishes. I've eaten there three times with several different groups of ladies and tried a variety of dishes, all were excellent. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food. more

A couple of weeks ago we had lunch at Ormond plantation and it was all delicious. I had the eggplant dish that had crab and shrimp in it with a light tomato cream sauce. I will definitely get it again. Service was great too. more

Love this! I just got married here on Saturday and it was the perfect place for my wedding!!! The staff was so accomodating to my wedding vision! It rained so the ceremony had to moved into the atrium and they did so without a hitch! The woman that runs the plantation was so easy to deal with and very helpful!! Of course, I did not have any crazy requests! The ceremony was suppose to take place under the beautiful tree in the back but the rain kept that from happening. The back up plan was still beautiful. \r \r The food was amazing! Both out-of-towners and locals RAVED about the food. Everything was delicious: shrimp and grits, gumbo, catfish, chipotle pork sliders, coconut shrimp, jambalaya and even the quesadillas were amazing!!! The white choc bread pudding was to- die- for! \r \r The DJ was awesome! He played a great mix of music for all ages! And he was very easy to deal with!\r \r My family, friends, husband and I would def recommend this venue to those wanting a southern wedding without dealing with the hassles of downtown NOLA! more

We stayed one night in the Ormond Plantation house. We chose the Pineapple Room because it had access to the veranda. Upon arrival, we had a bottle of wine and a fruit and cheese tray waiting for us in the in room refrigerator that we were able to enjoy on the veranda as the sun went down. Other than being near to the busy river road traffic, the porch was an enjoyable plus. The queen bed was comfortable. Morning coffee in the hall rather than in your room. Breakfast was served at the big dining room table with the other guests as so many B & B's do so you can share the great food and conversation with others. Breakfast was the fabulous highlight! French toast, omelette, grits, fruit, potatoes, and big home made biscuits. Don't skip breakfast! more

This bed and breakfast stay came at the end of a ten day trip which covered nights in five different plantations and tours of an additional eight. This was the cream of the crop and an unexpected treasure. Not because it was so big and beautiful but because it was homey. Built in 1789 while the area was till French, it shows a style all its own, two stories with a long front balcony and end garconnieres that have been joined to the main building by subsequent owners. \r \r It has had a tragic series of owners but was restored in the 1940's by a wealthy New Orleans couple taking advantage of its original strong construction. In the 1920's and 30's before this it had suffered at the hands of uncaring tenants. They kept it until 1971. I have seen a photo of it taken in 1927 - the Carnegie Southern Architecture series at the Library of Congress and it shows plowed fields right up to the front porch. When I saw this old photo and the new restoration on the website I could not resist visiting. It was purchased in 1971 by an executive of the Barq's Beverages after having been sold to a developer who made unfortunate changes. that had to be repaired.\r \r What a pleasant surprise. My daughter and I stayed overnight and we were the only ones there besides another couple and the hostess gave us a key to the front door and our room and said ""Enjoy exploring the house. Just do not open any closed doors because repairs and renovations are still underway."" I loved the quiet and serenity of the house even though it is located right on the busy River Road, but little traffic after dark to bother you. \r \r We were greeted in our room with a delicacy tray and a bottle of wine. The breakfast was splendid and served by Chef Richard, who is the chef for the restaurant. It included the most delicious French Toast I have ever tasted. \r \r The furnishings are comfortable and appropriate for a mansion of this era built before King Cotton. I loved the room full of old dolls and toys across the hall from our bedroom. The bedrooms in the front of the house have access to the balcony, so you might ask for one of those for a lovely view of the front yard. The four end bedrooms are in the garconnieres (2 in each) and have queen beds or a suite with twin beds and a sofa couch. Each bedroom has a fireplace which, of course, is not functional in such an old home, but very decorative to have anyway. The bathrooms have been upgraded but are still evidently not part of the original structure but an added modern necessity of life. \r \r Great atmosphere and very quiet. I loved it. more

A quick retreat away from Florida tourists in our area. My husband and I decided to take a trip down to NOLA. We booked the Green Room here and it was GREAT! Perfect for a quiet get away there was a dinner party the night we checked in, we never heard anything, later that night we had the place to ourselves! Completely! No ghosts, quiet, we drank wine out on the veranda. We opted not to do the Chef Richard breakfast (big mistake) next time we visit we will take full advantage of all the Ormond has to offer. At check in we were greeted by Chef Richard, whom shared with us some of the history of the Ormond, as well as different things he enjoyed from our part of Florida. The staff at the Ormond were so down to earth and all I can say to sum them up is AWSOME! If you are looking for a quiet getaway, Homey, step back in time THIS IS THE PLACE! Plus their towels smell great! We checked in on a Friday night out on Sunday Saturday there was a wedding in the back but we never really heard anything still so quiet and peaceful though other things happening around us. Toured other plantations in the area though none of them were as personal, welcoming, and laid back as the Ormond. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place for a peaceful getaway. We will be back! It's nestled in a quiet lil Parish, less than 30 min from down town. Do not pass this one up! more
