Dr. Sloan is supposed to be a family dentist, so I thought I would be safe bringing my 7 year old in tobe seen by her. We arrived 15 minutes early, right as a mother was upset because her daughter had been there over an hour and had yet to be seen - this was at 9:00 in the morning. I stayed though, because my daughter was already going to miss a day of school. This turned out to be a huge mistake. When Dr. Sloan finally made it into the exam room (at a little after 11:00), she informed me that my daughter had an absessed tooth that would require antibiotics. This was not caught 13 days earlier, when we were in for a routine checkup. She gave my daughter a shot to numb her, and then left for another 30 minutes. She did not begin working on my daughter until around 11:45, and by this time my daughter was scared to death. I have to say that Samantha, our hygenist, did an excellent job of keeping my daughter as calm as possible. Still, it was stressful for my little girl, and it was only made worse by the fact that Dr. Sloan didn't seem to be able to fit her crown on correctly. The whole time we were there she kept mentioning other dentists I should bring my daughter too - I realized then that despiter her title of ""family dentist"", she really isn't great with kids. Around 12:30, after she realized that the crown she had been working with wasn't a good fit, my daughter had regained some feeling in her gums. When Dr. Sloan jammed the crown into her gum, my little girl started sobbing, and I was doing my best to comfort her until Dr. Sloan stopped what she was doing to YELL AT ME TO BE QUIET AND LET HER DO HER JOB. I was appalled. I reminded her that even though we had been there almost 4 hours at this point, my daughter had done well until then. She began scolding me for letting her tooth become absessed, even though we've seen Dr. Sloan for regular checkups and no one noticed. Needless to say, we won't be back. Ever. I will never recommend her to anyone else. STAY AWAY. Pros: Polite Hygenists. Cons: Loooong wait time, Rude Dentist, Awful with children.
