If you're looking for tacos and tamales, don't come here. While Gresham has it's share of really good Mexican restaurants, Casa Del Pollo specializes (but is not limited to) Costa Rican fire roasted chicken and chicken dishes, hence the name. The food is authentic Costa Rican and oh sooooo good. Dining here is like visiting the home of a close friend. It is owend by a local family and the service is warm and gracious. The chicken is roasted right there. The menu isn't particularly extensive, but what is offered is done very very well. Aside from chicken dishes, they offer a few beef and vegetarian dishes, along with Cental American favorites such as plantains. Did I mention the price? The all-day Costa Rican breakfast of 2 eggs atop a delicious mix of rice and beans with a side of fried plantains and tortillas is $4.75!!! A family dinner for 4 of a whole fire-roasted chicken, rice, beans, tortillas and pop is $23. My family of 4 - dad, mom and 2 teen boys - can eat here for less than Burger King, and be full on healthy food. This food is not swimming in yellow cheese. The tortillas come with both a spicy red sauce and a garlic-infused oil with finely chopped parsley that is just wonderful when drizzeled over anything. When our relatives from the East come to visit this summer, this will be the first new restaurant we will have them try. Did I mention that the food is inexpensive and healthy? Pros: Excellent Food, Warm Service, Price
