I had recently purchased about $2700 in carpet from American carpets. I returned the next week to purchase laminate floor for two large rooms. I picked out real wood and didnt know it until the purchase was completeing. I was ensured this would be better, even after I told the saleperson that my husband and I would install it ourselves (first timers). I took it home and my husband informed me we could not put it down due to skill needed and the construction of the floorboards in our home. American Carpets would not give me my money back without chargeing me a 20% restocking fee ($689). This was unbelieveable. We were forced to pick a laminate floor from them that I didnt really want. We can not afford to give away over $600. I had intended on getting a kitchen floor from them, but now I would never buy anything from there and would warn other customers to beware.
