Having Betancourt and Associates as our realtor proved something of a windfall. They assessed our property at $100K over other brokers. While other agents kept pointing out the weaknesses of the property, they emphasized its strengths. John OReilly was our agent, and he understood and was able to explain to us in a nuanced way the fluctuations and timing of the market, and was able to determine a rise in the value of properties in our neighborhood as the rise was occurring (and not after). He had the time and patience to set up numerous appointments for viewers who could not attend the open houses. He is savvy about financing and talked to prospective buyers about their various financial options. He was able to recommend a mortgage broker who had better rates than the buyer's broker. During an unnerving fallow waiting period, John was supportive and encouraging,and we had several long conversations with him that helped convince us we were making the right decisions. He even talked us out of dropping the price beyond a certain point, though it would have been in his interest to do so. In the end, though the property was not in great condition, the sale was close to a record for our neighborhood.
