The Other Room doesn't look like a gay bar on first look, but just like the other reviewer, who, like me, said he felt like I was right back in San Francisco, I thought that the Other Room is clearly the best of the gay bars on Abbott-Kinney. Venice is an awesome part of LA - accepting, open, warm, and accommodating. The gay friends I went with hooked up with the bouncers in the rest room (no kidding!!), and generally thought that the guys there (not just the bouncers) were totally hot. The short round-faced bouncer was definitely looking for the major hook up. The bigger one isn't as friendly at first, but apparently he warms up with a little prodding. The hand-full of cute women (I hate to call them ""f*g h*ags"") definitely also livened the place up. If you are visiting from out of town, gay or straight, and looking for a place to hang and feel like you can really be yourself, I definitely recommend that you check out The Other Room. The beer is good, the decor is hip, and the staff is extremely friendly ;-) Pros: Hot and willing door-men Cons: crowded, noisy
