Review content:
I had been hearing great things about this place so when a gentleman friend of mine asked to take me to Mexican I suggested Casa Del Matador. I checked out the menus online before heading there. Happy Hour seemed cheap and tasty; the dinner menu a bit pricey but we decided to give it a shot.\r We were greeted by a friendly waitress. "" Hi. How are we doing? Do you both have your ID's on you?""\r No problem except for the fact we hadn't been seated in the bar but the freezing cold dining room. I understand the ID check but was a bit confused by the urgency.\r I ordered a glass of white rioja, my date a rootbeer.\r I was delivered a glass of red. I unfortunately had to send it back. \r UH OH, I thought. Mmmmm. Not a good sign for a wrong order in the first 10 minutes of being there but as a former server we all have those days.\r My date and I ordered two taco plates. I chose the carnitas plate at 10.95 and he had the carne asada plate at 11.95.\r The food seemed to come quickly but for what ever reason it was cold. Not ice cold but lets just say the beans were the hottest freshest item on the plates, which consisted of ONLY 2 taco's( meat, lettuce, less than a dab of SC) black beans and rice, and a lame excuse for what might have been pico de gallo.\r I will say that the carnitas was seasoned nicely with cinnamon and bay leaves, probably better when it's HOT.\r We finished what we could as we both were starving when we arrived. I think I lost my appetite after the 3rd bite.\r Our waitress cleared our plates and asked my date if he would like another rootbeer. He declined and off she went leaving me with that sad face you get when you take that last swig of wine and alas there is no one insight untill they come with the bill.\r SIGH.\r Our bill consisted of the taco plates(10.95, 11.95) A bottle of rootbeer (2.50) and 2 GLASSES OF WINE, one of which was still on my bill which i had sent back because it wasn't what I ordered!\r Again\r SIGH.\r She politely removed the wine charge and our bill then came to $32.40. We left her 44 cash.\r \r OVERALL:\r I might try this place for happy hour.\r Food is sub par and far from authentic. Try Chili's but overpriced. The service was casual but toooooo casual for the food and drink prices. The decor is interesting but is a extravagant facade for overpriced MEXICAN FOOD?\r I think I will stick with Santeria's for cheap authentic and El Gaucho, where for another 20 bucks I will get my moneys worth and my tummy will leave satisfied. Pros: Great atmosphere Cons: sub par food and service
