I can not emphasize enough how sorry we are that we went with this guy. Our insurance agency offered ""their"" auto glass but my husband went with family instead and we are now having to send our 2008 Jeep Rubicon to the Auto shop for repairs due to the damage Family Auto Glass did. Here's the story: First... F.A. (Family Auto Glass) came to give the estimate. Our deductible was $100. F.A. said he would give us back fifty (which is illegal)... we kinda ignored that and he never did anyway. He came and replaced the windshield in March. He jabbed the Jeep so roughly that all the way around the window is paint scratches. He siad that is how it's done. By August there was (is) rust forming on every one of those gashes and a severe leak on the inside of our vehicle. We call him to fix it. The day he is due to come he cancels and reschedules. I take the Jeep to a couple of body shops. They all agree: the damage is from installing the window... the window needs to be removed and the metal sanded down to eliminate the rust, primed and repainted... then the window put back in. I get a quote for $213 considering F.A. takes window out and puts it back in. F.A. comes out and first says ""I see nothing wrong""... then says ""that's how it's done. Scratches on the paint are normal"" then he wants to reach into the visible spots and put primer OVER THE RUST! The corrosion would continue... not to mention what we couldn't visibly see which is obviously there! I tell him how it needs to be done and he argues with me. I tell him to fix the leak but don't touch anything else. Ask about his insurance... NONE! He takes his black tarry glue and does a sloppy job where the leak is (hasn't rained yet so don't know if it is fixed}. He then goes and puts his glue on top of the more highly visible gashes and rust!!! Then takes a photo with his camera phone. He says ""I am not paying to repair your Jeep"" over and over. Great. I tell him I am calling my insurance and finding out what to do... and we may end up seeing him in small claims court. The damage will be more than $213 now since we have to hire a REAL glass guy. Probably closer to $500! I googled his listed business address... no such location.. it's a street corner. The only business registered in Algonquin called Family is Family Jewelers (pardon the pun) but I can't see an actual store. That place is registered to a lady... who lives in Palatine. Feel free to email me if you have questions. We are REALLY sorry we used this guy.
