Review content:
We stopped by on a Saturday at lunchtime but ordered two combination dinners [#201 & 203]. While the salsa was not “blow your head off” spicy it had character and I especially appreciated the diced onions. I ended up doctoring it up with some bottled hot sauce. The corn chips are thin, crisp, not salty and have an earthy/authentic flavor.
The restaurant is clean, the building isn’t anything special and the dining room has nice “tiffany” hanging lamps over the tables. The service was very good, the dining room was about half full when we arrived at 11:45 AM and people came and went it was slightly less than half full when we left about 12:40 PM.
Prices are very reasonable and portions are good without being oversized. The menu is huge; you’ll find something you like for sure. There is convenient parking adjacent to the restaurant.
My combo dinner “Grande Special Sampler” came with refried beans and Spanish rice. The rice was moist but not too flavorful, I added one of the four hot sauces that are on every table. The beans were very good and not overly fatty/greasy. The taco was very good and I consumed it before venturing on to the other delights on my plates [it took two oval dinner plates to contain my order]”, the ground beef was tasty as was the shell and cheese. The chili relleno was very nicely and creatively accomplished. I believe it was my favorite of all the sampled dishes. The enchilada had a wonderful sauce, very light but tasty shell and the same excellent ground beef as the taco. The burrito was well stuffed and tasty without being too large especially considering what all came with this order. The chalupa appeared to be a green salad on my plate, fresh ingredients very nicely displayed.
My Wife chose the “Del Mar Fajitas” combo and totally enjoyed it. I can testify that the sauce was wonderful as I sampled a piece of tomato, green pepper and mushroom. I didn’t have room to abscond with a shrimp or scallop. The guacamole was fresh and very nicely done as I did swipe a bit after mis-directing her to look at a very lovely tiffany lamp behind her.
