Review content:
I was told about this great restaurant near the LIRR train station in Douglaston, and took my wife there for dinner on a rainy Saturday night. I walked into a warm and beautifully appointed room with smiling faces and instantly felt that I was a regular. Great service, and great food were of course expected, and we were not disappointed! When the waitor told me that there was fresh mozzarella, I asked ""how fresh?"" I was told...we are going to make it for you. Indeed, warm mozzarella that left the taste of milk in my mouth transported me back to the Italian sausage shop from my youth growing up in Brooklyn. And that was only the beginning! My wife is a lobster lover, and she was told to order the ""lobster dish"" which while not on the menu, is available. I ordered the lasagna. We were both blown away! The lobster was cooked to perfection, and with the waitor's desire to make sure that it was taken out of the shell for her, it allowed her to enjoy the dish without having to do the work. For me..I had never tasted melt in my mouth lasagna -ever- but that was what I got, complete with all the cheeses, sauce and meat that is supposed to accompany a well made dish. It was almost like dessert. And since I brought up dessert, when you go, you must try the Napolean! Lighter than air, and wonderful to enjoy, it finished off the meal perfectly. And, we are not the only ones! Looking around the restaurant, (we dined in the upstairs dining room the last time, so there is plenty of room for big parties) we saw that everyone else felt the same way. The last time we went it was my wife's birthday and the manager introduced himself and bought us an after dinner drink. I cannot reccommend this restaurant more for people who want great food (try the veal!), great drinks, and great service- all in a winning atmosphere!
