Review content:
I love these ladies. I first went to Moshi Moshi on a recommendation from a friend about 3 years ago. I picked Juliana at random and she didn't let me down. I had had my hair cut by 2 people my entire life, my mother and our small town beautician, so I had my reservations. Everyone I interacted with in the shop was, and is, very friendly. Juliana cut quite a bit off my hair (I've always kept it pretty long and when I went to see her I'd just finished a summer of lifeguarding and my hair was super dry and gross) and gave me more layers than I'd ever had previously. I didn't give her much guidance just told her I needed to get the dead out and she'd say, ""I'll cut like this much off?"" or ""I'll add some layers?"" and run it by me and I'd just nod and let her go. The last time I went to her she went quite short which I was a little uncomfortable with but I think it was mainly because she'd cut my bangs so shot. And again, I'd gotten into the habit of not giving her many instructions but just letting her cut. But, now that I've said all that, Juliana is no longer at the shop. I now see Karen and I think she does a fantastic job. She's better at giving and actual trim than Juliana was but still will ask about things she'd like to do. I've never gone in with a set of rigid instructions so I can't speak on their ability to replicate a photograph but I can walk in and say, ""I need you to shape up my hair"" and walk out with a cut I'm happy with.
I have close friends who go here and love it. They too, by coincidence, see Karen. There are 6 or 7 ladies that cut hair at this shop and an esthetician. While as far as I can tell, they're all friendly, I can't speak to their hair-cutting abilities. Though I will say that when I've been in the shop I've never seen anything I'd be upset walking away with.
I also want to caution you to some of these one star reviews on here. Several of them had a bad experience with a particular stylist. Since there are at least 5 others, and you can choose who you book with, I don't think that should be a deterrent from the place as a whole. One reviewer was upset that her appointment wasn't kept when she was >15 mins late. I don't know about before but at this time when booking an appointment you are told that if you are 15 mins late they may not be able to accommodate you. Which is understandable as they have other appointments to keep. Your appointment was from 7:30 - 8:00, it will take 30 mins. Brining you in for a 30 min appointment at 7:45 or later will either cut into another appointment or the stylists time to go home. No matter the excuse for being late, it is in no way unreasonable for a business to drop your appointment because of it. I'd also draw attention to the date on some of these reviews. Moshi Moshi now has a website and offers easy online booking, very handy.
I think the price is reasonable ($35 for a wash, cut, and style with free bang trims between cuts--it's worth noting that the price is different for each stylist, presumably based on her years of experience) and I have only ever seen these ladies be chatty and friendly, never gossipy or rude. Also, these girls stay busy so you'll probably need to book at least a week or 2 in advance. Other pluses include they are open late (until 8) a couple days a week and are open on Saturdays.
