DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS!
I needed a simple moving job - emptying a small storage unit and moving it into an apartment 20 blocks away. I spoke to this company on the phone and was quoted:
$75 per hour for two movers
no minimum number of hours
the clock time started when they arrived at my storage unit and ended when they left my house
there were no additional fees
The movers showed up and immedietely started unpacking my storage unit. Only then was I asked to sign a contract. They refused to give me a further estimate, just wanted me to sign the contract. I was never allowed to hold the contact to read it, and each page was pulled from me after about 10 seconds. Whenever I would ask questions the mover told me it was not important.
Once they loaded my belongings I was finally given the quote, which was 8 times what it should have been. I was charged ASTRONOMICAL fees for using an elevator (what?) and a ""long walk of over 20 feet"" (isn't that a mover's job)? I immediately called the dispatch company but was never allowed to speak with a manager. I spoke with Lisa for a long time, but she was neither apologetic nor helpful with the situation. It was clear that her movers were trained to hide fees and run away with your cash. Moreover, she explained that it was my fault for not specifically asking if there was an elevator fee (and why would I assume that there was?)
I will never use these people again, and I hope that no one else goes through this same situation.
