Review content:
I searched CitySearch for the perfect tapas restaurant to accomodate a group of 20 people for my 30th b-day. I admit I did call some of the newer tapas restaurants first, but none of them were willing to take a reservation. When I called Cafe Madrid, they were very helpful with making reservations and answering any questions I had. Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were seated immediately and orders were taken promptly. I was with a very picky crowd, most of whom are of Hispanic heritage. We were all very excited about trying the paella. Unfortunately, it did not live up to anyone's expectations. It seemed very bland and dry. Some of my guests had to ask for various spices and condiments from the back to make it edible to their very high standards. Most of the other tapas we ordered were alright but no WOW factor. All the while though, our waiters were very acomodating to our requests, including turning down the air to cool it down a bit. Service was fantastic, food - not so much.
