Review content:
I did a yahoo search for Thai restaurants while I was visiting my grandmother in Southgate and 3 popped up including this one. We chose this one by virtue of being geographically closest. I have to say, this was BY FAR the worst Chinese food I've ever eaten. And I couldn't wait to leave this place. Oh, and I guess that having one curry dish on your menu qualifies you as a Thai restaurant according to Yahoo.
You can tell it's a family run affair, which is normally endearing. And maybe it would be if it weren't for the young man I first noticed upon entering. This boy's job description must be to answer phones...I think. The problem is, he obviously doesn't want to be there. We constantly heard him yelling, complaining, and antagonizing other employee's FROM THE BACK ROOM throughout our dinner. It was really obnoxious.
The place was not clean and the food was terrible. We waited for about 35 minutes for food that tasted like it had been sitting around since morning. The rice was dried out and disgusting, the food itself was greasy. The only good points here were the portion sizes, fact that you can choose 2 entrees in a meal, and the sweet little waitress that we had. She was very nice she just couldn't make up for the rest of the experience. Save your money and go to Hong Kong on Dix or if you're looking for inexpensive try Dragon Buffet on Dix & Eureka. China Star??? Not in my book!
Pros: friendly waitstaff
Cons: just about everything else stunk
