Review content:
We visited Masalaa about a month ago with our kids. First off, the food was delicious, but not very filling. We felt that for the price, we should have been given more. The kids menus are a joke, they're about as much as a not very hungry 3 or 4 year old would eat. If your child is older than that, do yourself a favor and just order the adult portion which doesn't cost that much more. The kids really loved the food, my son though his mountain dosa was really cool, but there just wasn't enough for the children's portions. That being said, the food was still wonderful and fresh tasting, but we think we'll order some sides or appetizers next time. \r

The service was probably the worst I've ever had anywhere and I've eaten as some hole in the wall places. We went on a Friday night about 7:30, we figured we'd have to wait for a little bit, but ended up waiting about 45 minutes to be seated and watched about 3 other couples/families that had come in after us, be seated before us. While waiting I watched a man who had ordered take out have his order literally dropped in his lap and was ignored when he asked about a bag that he had set down somewhere and couldn't find. The waiters/hosts working there seemed very irritated and were borderline rude to us. We waited another 30 minutes to have our order taken, and our food took another 30 minutes. Needless to say by the time our food actually got there our kids were practically falling asleep. The menu itself isn't very descriptive so if you don't know what something is, it's like taking a shot in the dark. I suggest reading up on items before going there if you're not familiar with south Indian cuisine.\r

The only real saving grace of this restaurant is that the food is unique in Denver and tasty. We want to try the lunch buffet, without the kids, before we completely say no.
Pros: Tasty, unique food. Only south Indian cuisine in Denver that I know of.
Cons: Abysmal service. Maybe just get carry out and save yourself the tip money.
