Review content:
I had dinner there with my wife and we both enjoyed the total experience tremendously. This restaurant is an excellent blend of food and hospitality. I had the steak tartare as an appetizer and it was amazing. My wife had the oysters rockefeller and they were a blend of plump juicy blue point oysters tasty spinach mornay parmesan cheese and smoked applewood bacon. I had a 14oz New York strip steak that was one of the highest quality meats I have ever had. It was unbelievably good. My wife had a huge piece of block island swordfish that was cooked to perfection in their wood burning oven. The waiter suggested pancetta braised brussel sprouts and blue cheese tater tots as sides and they were amazing as well. We finished the meal off with a succulent piece of marscapone cheesecake that melted in your mouth and was as light and fluffy as the whipped cream they put on the side. Along with the food the service was perfect as well. Our waiter Brendon was expertly attentive to all of our needs and throughout the entire meal. He suggested the fare and explained them with the knowledge of a chef while not being too pushy or overbearing. His prescence at the table was excellent. We had everything we needed at all times and he was completely unobtrusive and let us enjoy our meal. The wine list at this restaurant was the best I had ever seen. This encompassed the entire world and had great selections from every major wine growing areas and even some very remote and little known wine growing regions. The waiter had an amazing knowledge of the wine list and wine in general and guided us through the list. He suggested wine from the varietals that we told him we liked and even suggested some different wines that he thought we would like from what we described. He also suggested wines from different price ranges not only focusing on the expensive ones. That made us feel that we could buy any wine even the cheaper ones without feeling cheap. The wine we landed on was Levendi Cabernet, a small production wine from Napa Valley that we had never heard of. This wine was excellent and paired well with my steak and my wifes fish. Even though I have a fairly good knowledge of wine it was nice to have a waiter that was able to help us in our selection and was able to recommend such an excellent wine that I had never heard of. The ambiance of the restaurant was perfect. It was not too loud but not stuffy either and let us enjoy our conversation while listening to the jazz greats play in the background. The restaurant was beautifully decorated with stainless steel subway tiles and crushed glass wallpaper to give it a modern feel while the chandielleirs overhead gave it the air of elegance that this place deserves. I will definitely go back for the amazingly delicious food and beautiful ambiance but what will draw me back the most is the service I received from the phone call in to when I walked out the door. This expertly attentive staff was proactive and anticipated our needs before we even had to ask. It was nice in a time where people are taken for granted to go to a place that appreciated the customer being there. They were packed but each table seemed to have the personal service of each waiter making you feel like you were the only people there.
