Do your research and it will pay off. The mark up is astronomical at places like Mattress World and Sleep Country. How can it not be with the advertising they do? I know shopping for a mattress isn't a whole lot of fun but believe me, spending a day shopping around, finding the mattress you like and then learning about the coil count and makings of it will save you an easy grand! Sure it made for a stressful, boring day... but with that thousand bucks I can now buy a new couch. The stores won't price match unless it's the same mattress & they like to trip you up by putting different fabric covers on them and labeling them with different names and sku numbers. I wouldn't have even known this had I not walked into Shleifer Furniture after having been to Sears, Macys, Sleep Country and the Mattress World right up the street earlier that same day. Not to mention the service at Mattress World was appauling! I had a very similar experience to Guppiesmybc. Clearly things haven't changed much in the last couple of years. The sales person that helped me at Mattress World had no patience for my shopping around.
