Review content:
I have had a bad experience with this guy - he has a violent temper and I would advice others to stay away from him & his shop. He overcharges 3-4 times over the amount of time the work actually takes. He also avoids having to provide receipts so that the income is not on record. For the past several months, I have been a regular customer and he did decent work on my car. The last job that he did on my car - replacing the rear coil springs, he initially told me it would take 5-10 minutes to replace each coil spring but charged me for 1.5 hours for what took him less than 30 minutes to do (with me actually giving him a hand and getting cut in my arm in the process). I asked him why he was charging me that much and that I didn't think that was a fair price to charge and he just lost it - yelling at me, threatening to keep my car if I didn't agree to that amount, and throwing things around the shop. I paid him and asked for a receipt but he refused. I kept calm the whole time but it was a threatening experience I wouldn't wish on anyone. I'm not sure if this is his normal personality or maybe it's the stress he's facing since he's going thru bankruptcy and the prospect of losing the shop since business has been very slow (I wonder why). And maybe the reason he overcharges is to try to make up the difference between the business he's lost and his last lingering customers. I have filed a complaint with the California Bureau of Automotive Repair for him not providing me with receipts of his work and he is currently under investigation. Whatever the case is, his situation does not make for a good environment to do business - find another mechanic/shop that has good customer service and is financially (and mentally) stable.
Cons: Mentally unstable, doesn't provide receipts
