Review content:
I?ll start on a good note and say Wildwood is an immaculate golf course, probably one of the best-kept I?ve seen in my brief time playing golf. The pro shop is pretty nice?there?s a snack bar and golf gear available. Nothing new. So in that respect, I?d recommend checking it out, but bring your wallet, for the green fees aren?t for those on a budget. Don?t get me wrong. Wildwood is an excellent golf course...if you plan on walking. To put it mildly, our 9-holf golf game was completely ruined because our carts (yes?two carts in our party) died out on us in the middle of the 13th hole, a hilly par five. These carts were obviously not charged, as they couldn?t make it up the slightest hills without us Fred Flintsone-ing it. They slowed our game down to the point where it was too dark to continue, thus ending our day. And it wasn?t just our carts; on that same hole, there were two other dead ones camped around the green. What bugged me even more was the fact that they didn?t offer refunds for our terrible experience. They handed the three of us rainchecks marked for ?super twilight?, whatever that means. So, plain and simple, when I redeem that raincheck, that?ll be the last time I go to that golf course. If you?re a walker, go for it; it?s a beautiful course, so for that I?ll recommend it, but wear some good golf shoes because you just may end up hoofing it if you get a golf cart. Maybe I'm being a little hard on the star rating, but the overall experience left me and the rest of my group seething. ***UPDATE*** So I redeemed the raincheck they gave me from the previous debacle, and apparently, lightening strikes twice. The cart I had didn't die this time around...it had NO PARKING BRAKE. I had to park the cart in all sorts of funky positions just so the thing wouldn't roll down a hill and into a lake. Easily the worst golf experiences I've had were here at Wildwood, and I won't so much as pass by this facility again. AND they lose a star. Pros: Beautiful course, challenging Cons: Golf carts are absolutely worthless, and the staff doesn't really seem to care.
