Initially, Brad seemed like a type of guy that would follow through and get things done correctly, however after one month of agreeing to a bid price (I wanted to get an irrigation system installed, a few trees (4) and a decomposed granite pathway with a boarder/edging installed (approximately 85 ft). It was kind of humorous (in a bad way) when I received the initial bids. I had requested additional work, but upon receiving the bids, I decided to narrow it down to the items I have mentioned above. Maegan sent out the first bid (note this is for the EXACT same work, I still have the documents to prove it) for around $8200 dollars...all the bid said was installation of irrigation system to plan, (4) trees etc...it was super generic...no details whatsoever...so I requested that they break it down line by line and let me know what each part of the project costs so I could customize it around my budget...I get another generic bid (this time from Brad) for the EXACT same generic descriptions...only this time it was over $10,000 dollars!!! I laughed....now why was I so stupid to continue to go with them? Because when I eliminated a few items and stuck with what I wanted to get done (the trees and the granite path and the irrigation system for the full yard) it came to around $6600 which wasn't all that unreasonable and Brad promised they'd get it done...but they didn't like to break things down (itemize them). Then, I waited another month for them to get approval through the local water district (ours is strict, and requires plan layout and survey etc) so I understood it may take a week...after almost 3 weeks...I called the water district myself to see what the holdup was...it was July 9th...the last submission by Greenscapes (Brad) was June 21st!!! They said it shouldn't take this long...and they had never dealt with Greenscapes before so that might be part of the problem...I should have turned and ran at this point, but you know how it goes...you invest this much time with someone, and you want to see it through...miraculously when I called back to Greenscapes? Maegan said they had ""just"" resubmitted the plans...so finally, yesterday (another week later) they just got the permit...they send me the contract...and I laughed out loud! There was NO details whatsoever in it aside from a check box (maybe it had an x :) ) that said it was for an irrigation system install and they wanted 50% down...um...what about the details of the system? Amount of sprinkler heads, type (listed in the contract like a good business would do) hose, PVC etc...Um what about my trees? The decomposed granite? I see the total amount there? But no other detail. So I email back (this time with frustration for obvious reasons) requesting detail or I will go with someone else (because at this point I have serious doubts about this company doing quality work...or following up on anything that might go wrong with the installation...warranty anyone? I doubt it!!) Incompetent...no, not too strong a word here. Pros: none in this case... Cons: Read the details below...poor communication...incompetence
