Looking at the other reviews here, I felt like I had to balance the discussion. My parents were wonderful, but their genes gave me a predisposition for hooded eyes and under-eye bags. Eight years ago, when I was 51, Dr Beaty performed upper and lower blepharoplasties on me. My results were what I had hoped for. I followed all of the post-op instructions and my incisions healed well. I even found that my under-eye circles were MUCH improved, although not everyone gets this benefit. Unfortunately, the loss of my under-eye bags seemed to make my crow's feet more prominent, but that only shows with smiling. Today, my upper lids are starting to have extra skin again, but time marches on, and no one told me that the results on my upper lids would last forever. My lower bleph is still a laudable result, and I don't look tired all the time, like I used to. I have even considered going back to Dr. Beaty for an ""update,"" even though I now live in WY. Bottom line: my surgery was worth the expense, the risk, the down-time, and the bruising.
